Episode #8: Nick Danziger
Nick Danziger is one of the world’s most renowned photojournalists. Much of his life has been dedicated to documenting the social-political issues that define our times in best-selling books, award-winning documentaries and prizewinning photography. His outstanding work has received numerous awards, including an Honorary Fellowship from the Royal Photographic Society and the Royal Geographical Society’s Ness Award in recognition of raising public understanding of contemporary social, political and environmental issues. He also has won the World Press Photo 1st Prize in the Single Portrait category. His photographs have been published internationally and are part of several museum collections.

The next episode of the Freestream is with master photographer, David Yarrow. David is one of the bestselling fine art photographers in the world, an active conservationist and author of multiple books.
Join us to watch film clips of him at work and find out how he created “The Mob”, an image from his epic encounter with 3 of the biggest elephants in the world. We also talk about some of his very latest work, including his extraordinary fundraising efforts through #artforheroes and #koalacomeback, as well as his images of cowboys in West Texas.

From his New York apartment, he joins Chris on the show to discuss stories from portrait sessions with the likes of The Rolling Stones and Diana Ross. Albert Watson talks about being natural with famous stars and his different approaches to Fashion Photography and portrait photography. Albert Watson also answers questions from students of his online photography course.

In this episode, he talks to Chris about his transition from the military to photography, becoming an RPS Fellow and winning the 2018 British Wildlife Photographer of the Year Award.

Joel and Chris discuss some of the major turning points in Joel’s work over his 58 year career. Joel also discusses the special print sale project with Aperture which will support their educational and public programming as well as the scanning of over 140,000 previously unseen Meyerowitz Kodachrome slides.
Episode #6: Ian Gavan
Ian Gavan is a successful music, fashion and celebrity portrait photographer. In this episode, Chris and Ian talk about the world of live music photography, how to get great photographs at a concert, what camera to use and his favourite photo of the Rolling Stones. Find out what it’s like to be a photographer in the pit at Glastonbury and to have Slash playing guitar inches from your camera!
Ian also shares his approach to celebrity portraiture, working at Film Festivals and the pressure and pleasure of showing your images to Mariah Carey.

In this episode, Chris talks with photographer Scarlet Page. They discuss what it’s like to photograph some of the music industry’s biggest artists including David Bowie, The Rolling Stones, Stereophonics and Sir Paul McCartney.
Scarlet talks about growing up with creatives, her experience working ‘in the pit’ at Glastonbury and her extraordinary personal project, ‘Resonators’, a two year global quest to photograph the world’s greatest guitar heroes. They also discuss one of her current projects, ‘Buddy’, and how she is capturing thought provoking portraits of local children with their comfort toys.
