The Story of Masters of Photography
Photography is the way any human being on this planet can communicate an event, an idea, a story, a feeling to any other human, regardless of borders, language, age, or belief. Everything can be photographed by us to communicate our own message and our opinion.
I’ve been a professional photographer and filmmaker for 40 years, during that time I have been commissioned to create imagery of all kinds of subjects from portraiture, landscape, still life for both commercial and editorial clients. Throughout my career I’ve always been deeply interested in photography as an art form, and have continuously produced my own personal work.

The concept of Masters of Photography began my interest in simply wanting to understand more about what photography means to me and to explore what it
means to other people too. I tried to find a website where find the greatest master photographers in the world giving insight and learning into their methods and techniques. For months I looked for this ultimate site or any other sites that offered in depth insights into how they worked, but couldn’t find anything. So I decided maybe I could try to make them myself, this was when the concept and idea of Masters of Photography emerged. I wanted to create a site solution that would enable everyone to connect with and learn from these iconic photographers.
I founded Masters of Photography with my good friend Gilles Storme who has enormous expertise in ecommerce and digital marketing and together weve built the learning platform that serves to provide all that I could not find before.

Our aim for Masters of Photography is simply to bring together on one online place, the greatest master photographers in the world explaining their working methods and develop a student community to learn and interact with one another. We wanted to create inspiring in depth masterclasses with these great photographers, using intimate one to one lessons that capture their knowledge, ethos and philosophy and provide easy to understand lessons that will inform and inspire any level of photographer to create better images on any type of camera device. We recognised that the ideal teaching format for each master and student would be a series of wide-ranging online lessons. These lessons would need to be always available for the student to log on and access at any time and learn at their own pace.

“ … walk side by side withour master photographers…”
Our film production concept for these masterclasses was to walk side by side withour master photographers, listening, watching and being inspired by how they create their incredible imagery. I wanted to make these masterclasses hugely engaging by using high production values. We wanted to take these masters to locations that both excited us all and enabled them to demonstrate exactly how they create their images.

We don’t necessarily need to understand how to technically use a camera in order to create better photographs, we just need to understand how to use our eyes and minds to create images that say what we want them to say. All our masters say “the best way to master photography is to study with a master!” It really doesn’t matter if your photo device is a camera phone or a DSLR, every one of us can create pictures that mean something, these moments are all around us every day. We can all learn from the masters how to recognise moments and how to see the possibilities. They teach us how to be ready to capture our own images in a fraction of a second, to show and confidently say to everyone: “this really is what I want to say.”

Even though I’ve been a professional photographer all my life, I’ve learned somuch more in creating these masterclasses and I know from the wonderful reviews and comments weve received that so many others have too.
